Yups, my very first post on my newest blogsite where i can rant, bitch, gossip about anything and anyone. This page was in standby mode for a good 4 hours before i managed to put any of my rantings down because of a string of meetings that took place today.
Well, it's February the 29th. And in four years time, it would be the first anniversary of this blog. In four years time on Feb 29, it will be a year old.
Whatever.
Its 6.48pm. I am still at work as usual. Trying my best to calm my brain down. Too many things too little time. Ahhhh.. don't i say that all the time!
Few things to note down now.
1) The disappearing act of Singapore's most wanted man MAS SELAMAT BIN KASTARI.
The news came as a shock to me when i first found out. A prison break? In Singapore? In a secured detention centre? Is that possible? Hah. If course it is. Like many Singaporeans i beleive, we, the Citizens of Singapore have become too complacent. Yes, i do believe that. We think that Singapore is the safest city in the whole wide world. We THINK our government and our military forces and our cool boys in blue are the best and can tackle anything and anione. We THINK that since we managed to stop these terrorists from executing their plans years ago, we are invincible. But sorry guys. This is the reality. This episode opened our eyes.
Working at Bukit Tinggi, off Dunearn Road, Off Bukit Timah, Off Off Whitley Detention Centre, kept me on my toes these few days. Working with a foreign association, kept me at the edge on my seat too. Every few minutes, i would be searching the website for any other developments that might have taken place. If they had found him. If the streets of Singapore were safe again.
Colleagues and news reports confirmed by believe that not ALL Singaporeans had their eyes opened to this episode. I hear people saying that they are not afraid, neither are they worried as they believe that the "forces" will apprehend this chap soon. I beg to differ. This time, i feel, Singapore lost. It will be a while, perhaps weeks or even months.. or even YEARS before we have him incarcerated again.
Someone said, i quote, "... posed no imminent danger to the public". And yet another one said, "Mas Selamat might resort to taking ahostage or even a reckless act of terror." How can he not be an imminent danger to public? How can he not be a threat to our security! He is and still is a NATIONAL SECURITY threat and yet, they sais that he "posed no imminent danger to public" Sorry guys, but that a bunch of bull.
"...not to speculate" he says. Not to speculate?! These are situations which COULD and WILL happen! It gives us the options to find a good and proper approach to apprehending him!
He could have taken people hostage. He could have just taken any student from the nearby schools, or a taxi driver or even civilians who just happen to cross his path to get what he wanted. Remember, he is the leader of the JI movement here.
That's it man. Im not gonna rant on anymore for today. My hubby might just think that i am taking this too seriously and that i should let it go. But again, he knows me better than that.
Singaporeans, please wake up. The time has come for us to really take a step back and think about our country, our safety and our complacency. That's all i have got to say for now cos i am having a headache.
To MAS SELAMAT, pls tell us how you managed to escape and make a mockery of the security system in Singapore. I really would like to know. And your fellow citizens too.
